Reverend Carla Maurer has been the Minister of the Swiss Church in London since 2013. She gave a talk to present the activities of the Swiss Church, and how its community is affected by Brexit.

Major Philipp Leo, cyber-risk consultant
Major Philipp Leo is part of the Swiss Armed Forces Cyber Command as well as a trusted advisor to numerous government agencies and organisations at both national and international levels. He is an expert on cyber risk and digitalisation and combines technical expertise with years of experience in business, administration and defence.
In his capacity as an international speaker, he talked about the digitalisation of state and society. The talk was followed by a dinner at Oriel College, and a visit of Lincoln College.

It was a pleasure to listen to Swiss economic historian Prof. Tobias Straumann sharing his view on ‘Switzerland preparing for the revolutions of the 21st century’. A great thank you to Lincoln College for providing this lovely seminar room, and of course to everyone who participated in this event !
Career lunch :
Guy Spier, Zurich based investor
For the first event of 2019, Zurich-based investor Guy Spier joined us at the Oxford Saïd Business School for lunch, and a discussion about his experiences as an investor and Oxford University graduate. Guy took some time to interact with every guest, making it a very personal event. Many thanks to him and to everyone who contributed to making it such a pleasant event !

Alain Berset, President of the Swiss Confederation
It was an immense pleasure to welcome the President of the Swiss Confederation Alain Berset in the beautiful Lincoln College MCR. After taking some time to talk with students, the President even showed us his selfie skills ! Thanks to everyone for coming !

‘Der grosse Sommer’ by Stefan Jäger
We were delighted to welcome Swiss film maker Stefan Jäger, who presented one of his latest movies, ‘Der grosse Sommer’ in St Peter’s College. After the screening, Mr. Jäger engaged in a Q&A session with the attendance, which resulted in a very interactive and personal event.

Alexandre Fasel, Swiss Ambassador to the UK
We were extremely grateful that our guest, Swiss Ambassador to the UK Alexandre Fasel, found some time in his busy schedule to come to Oxford. Ambassador Fasel, a former Oxford University student himself, gave an insightful speech entitled ‘Brexit — what does it mean for Switzerland ?’. The event was held in Lincoln College, whose continuous support to the Society is very much appreciated, and was followed by a drinks session where the attendance had a chance to interact personally with the Ambassador.
