Fabian Soltermann

I am Fabian, the president of the Oxford University Swiss Society and a second-year DPhil candidate in Physical and Theoretical Chemistry. Before coming to Oxford I worked in pharmaceutical research at Novartis in Basel and completed my MSc degree at ETH Zurich and Institut Pasteur Paris. I had the chance to come to Oxford with a Berrow Foundation Lord Florey scholarship at Lincoln College. Last year I contributed to the Oxford University Swiss Society as sponsorship officer and vice-president and I am now looking forward to work with our committee on the bright future of the OUSS. If you want to contact me:

Anita Noll

Hello everyone! My name is Anita and I’m currently reading my second MSt in Oxford University in Diplomatic Studies. I am originally from Brig, Valais, but I call Altdorf in Uri my home. In my free time, I like to travel and to read and discover pretty much anything related to religion(s), which has also been my academic field of interest until now. I am excited to be part of the most fun society in Oxford in the role of Vice President. Feel free to reach out to me at any time ( I will most likely suggest to discuss any matter along with a glass of Chardonnay! 😊 Welcome to the Swiss society!

Sofie Behluli

Hi! My name is Sofie and I’m a second-year DPhil candidate in English at Lincoln College. After having finished my MA in English Languages and Literatures at the University of Bern in Switzerland, I was extremely lucky to get a Berrow Foundation Scholarship to pursue my doctoral research here in Oxford. As wonderful as it is to meet so many interesting people from all over the world, it is important to me to stay in touch with the Swiss community (not just because of the fondue). I am excited to be the Secretary of the Oxford University Swiss Society and will gladly answer any questions you might have:

Margherita Nulli

I’m Margherita and I am currently working with the Human Centred Computing group at the department of Computer Science. I have been in Oxford for the past three years and joined the Swiss society from the beginning as I am very fond of Switzerland and highly interested in its culture. I am the treasurer of the Oxford Swiss Society for the academic year 2018/2019. If you have any enquiries about membership don’t hesitate to contact me at

Nicolas Christen

Hi ! I am Nicolas Christen, currently a 3rd year DPhil candidate in Theoretical Physics at Lincoln College and a Berrow Foundation Scholar. I grew up abroad and then did my Undergraduate and Master degrees at EPFL in Lausanne (Switzerland) where I started working on nuclear fusion. One of my favourite Swiss Society events is the brunch taking place during Trinity Term: the perfect opportunity to discover homemade Swiss culinary specialties in a relaxed atmosphere 🙂 Feel free to drop me an email with questions or suggestions at

Michelle Hufschmid

Hi! My name is Michelle and I am a DPhil candidate in Medieval History at Exeter College. After a BA in History and English at the University of Zurich and a MA in Medieval and Renaissance Studies at UCL, I am currently researching a crusade in 13th century Germany. Originally from Bern, I am delighted to be the Speaker Events Officer at the Swiss Society. If you would like to get in touch with me, please do so via

Sebastian Nufer

I have been in Oxford for a bit over 3 years now and just about to finish my PhD in Material Physics. I have been part of the committee of the Swiss Society for about 3 years, I had multiple roles in these years and now I am looking after the events of the society. My favourite events are the fondue, the chocolate tasting and the brunch, can only recommend them.

Berk Burakbektas

Hi, I’m Berk Bektas, and I’m a Masters student studying MSc Marketing and Brand Management at Brookes. I studied French at Sorbonne in Paris for two years, and as a lover of all things French and German (though I still need to learn Deutsch!) I got involved with the Swiss Society. I have quite a mixed background so being apart of a society with many different and unique cultures is a fun and exciting prospect. I’m a very sociable person, so it’ll be my pleasure to be in the Social Events Team this academic year.

Nicole Hasler

Hi! I’m Nicole, a first-year undergraduate Medicine student at Lincoln College, Oxford. I completed all my previous schooling in Switzerland, and spent a year studying Biology at ETH before realizing that Medicine was more aligned with my interests. Though I love moving around and discovering new places and am looking forwards to exploring all that Oxford has to offer, I’m still happy to find that there is a Swiss community here. As part of the Social Events team, I help to organise our events, and would look forward to seeing you there!

Nina Mangold

I’m from St Gallen and lived in Switzerland until I moved to London three years ago where I completed an undergraduate degree in Film Studies and Drama at Queen Mary University of London. Having always been interested in photography, I’m now the society photographer of the Oxford University Swiss Society.
